Why you will want to hire me

CLIENTS
I don't accept everyone
who wants to
retain my services. I no longer work with independent
individuals: experts, authors, speakers, columnists.
Instead I work only with
companies and organizations who provide services to the
public.
EXCLUSIVITY
I will accept
only one new client a month unless that client needs
my services for multiple months. This way I can give my
full attention to my client without any conflicts of
interest. I don't need a big stable of clients. When I'm
paid well, one client at a time is sufficient.
RETAINER
I
am worth every penny you invest in my services, but I am
not cheap. I have paid my "dues" over the past 30-40 years,
and there's a very good chance I have already done, for
other clients as well as myself, what you are about to ask
me to do for you.
BONUSES
Some clients have been so happy with my work that they have
given me surprise bonuses. I don't expect a bonus, but will
accept one so long as there are no conflicts of interest
and nobody's integrity is besmirched.
(I do like that word.)
What I will decline is a commission based on results in
lieu of retainer. This practice has been a
no-no in the public relations profession for years. You
deserve excellent work... a commission won't guarantee
that.
CONFIDENTIALITY
I
have always been willing to sign
letters of non-disclosure. This protects you from my
divulging corporate secrets to your competitors. I wouldn't
do it anyway, but you can have it in writing if it gives
you the reassurance and confidence you need to retain me.
DIVORCE
You
can fire me at any time for just
cause. Of course,
I can fire you, too, if you become difficult
to work with, or unpleasant, or you do something illegal or
unethical. It's normal to have disagreements and clashes of
opinion from time to time, but I would prefer to say
goodbye amicably if we just can't get along no matter what.
Just pay me for the work done to that date and we're
settled.
