EXPERTISE: Gang Specialist and Criminal Consultant

I grew up gang affiliated and was sentenced to 61 years for my gang affiliation. While incarceration pursuing my academics, I realized that I needed to use my influence in a more constructive manor. So I started encouraging Gang Members to broaden their horizon by also pursuing their academics. I realized that youth was our nation’s most precious resource. I then began reaching out to youth who were considered at risk or gang involved youth through the Southern Nevada Region, encouraging them to stay out of gangs and not to use Drugs.  So I made a commitment before my release to the City of Las Vegas that I would commit and dedicate my life to helping youth avoid making a lot of the bad choices that I made in my life.

BIO

26 years ago Mr. Ramont Williams was incarcerated into a Nevada State Penal Institution for gang activity as a 17-year-old youth. For many years his anger and dissociation from American society caused him to be placed in a maximum-security facility.  However in a very short time, his intelligence and oratorical skills landed him a spot on Montell Williams CBS pilot special; America’s Youth Locked-Up.   Mr. Williams is noted for his interpersonal relationship skills as it relates to prison uprisings.  He has been asked on several occasions to go in and bring resolve to inmate riots and has been 100 % successful in countless endeavors in this regard.

Since leaving incarceration, he vowed to commit his life to God and the service of his community.  For the Last 10 years Mr. Ramont Williams has been active in the community engaging in food drives, clothing dispersal, litter clean-ups, helping the elderly and insuring that youth stay in school and go to college.   It is also noteworthy that as a former gang member, he has a connection with youth in their disenfranchised war torn environments.  He is able to go into this strange world and bring youth from behind enemy lines so that they are productive members of society.

The list of his accomplishments are many: He assisted the North Las Vegas Police Department in the solving of a 2004 murder of a 13 year old girl.  He is a consistent speaker at the Boys & Girls clubs of America and throughout Clark County School District, both middle school and high school.  He was appointed to the Southern Nevada Gang Task Force. He is a family and Court mediator as well as Youth Advocate.  He is a Youth Crime Watch Trainer through Juvenile Justice & Rally Mountain Expansion Center and is currently the Vice President of the MLK Neighborhood Committee and sits on a number of other boards and committees. In addition he has help employ over 300 youth in and around Las Vegas.

In 2004 the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency recognized his talents and recruited him into a program housed at Nevada Partners called Project Safe Neighborhoods, Mr. Williams has created his own organization called H.O.P.E. 2000 (helping our people elevate) which is one of the most successful youth mentoring programs in the city. Mr. Williams is also credited for starting another program for which he manages called C-Joy (creating job opportunities for youth) which is a pre-apprentice program were he teaches youth hands on carpentry skills and helps get them tutoring and prepared for a accredited apprentice program. To date he has successfully led approximately 60 hardcore gang members out of their negative environments to engage in employment and education, positive decision making.

Mr. Ramont Williams contends that his wife and four sons are his greatest driving force.

Mr. Williams has also used his initiative to start a city wide project called the Southern Nevada Youth City. This initiative will marshal the efforts of youth programs to bring a “One-Stop-Youth center” to Southern Nevada.

Mr. Ramont Williams is also working with the Coordinator for the Reentry Program for the state of Nevada to help inmates to become productive members of society to avoid recidivism. Because of Mr. Williams’s success with moving X-felons to productive lives through community mobilization and his own upward mobility, Senator Steven Horsford, asked him to testify on behalf of “Senate Bill 360” before the state legislature. He’s consistently assisted Nevada department of Prisons with their Going Home Prepared Program. Helping felons prepare for the free world.

The distinctive positive community accomplishment of Mr. Ramont Williams brings credit upon himself, the City of Las Vegas and the United States of America.
