Why aren't
you making $400,000 or more a year?
I pose that question
when I talk to potential clients who say they can't afford to
hire me. How would you answer? Do their answers resonate with
you?
1. I don't deserve to
earn that much.
2. It's not Christian
to charge for my services.
3. My family/siblings/parents/spouse
would be upset if earned more money.
4. I don't want to have
to pay tax on higher earnings.
5. I'm not willing to
change how I operate my business.
6. I've paid for and
followed all the advice in the branding and Internet marketing
books and I lost money.
7. I turned my business
into a nonprofit so I can't make a profit.
8. I don't know how.

Every day I'm asked to invest in someone's
company, subsidize someone's career with my own money, time and
creativity, or provide services for free or on speculation. That's
the quickest way for me to lose all respect for you. Why? Because
I teach you how to generate the money you need to pay your own
way in life. If you don't believe in your own ability to earn
an income, why should I spend time promoting you? If you won't
invest in yourself, why should I?
I know this sounds harsh... but I'm not
going to sugar coat the truth and you need to have realistic
expectations. My recommendation if
you "can't afford" to hire me: Raise
the funds you need to promote yourself properly - as I did
- or buy my report - see box below - which will show you what
I do.
HUMOR: Here's what
I say to strangers/unknown individuals who ask me to provide
extensive marketing services for nothing but a possible percentage
of the income I generate for them.
1. No. No thanks.
2. No. I'm not your Mom.
3. No. I'm not a bank.
4. No. Slavery was abolished
a century-and-a-half ago.
5. No. I have no respect
for a man (or woman) who hasn't met me, but asks me to loan them
money.
6. OK, but I'll need
the keys, the address, and directions to your house and the deed
signed over to me while you continue to pay the mortgage and
taxes. Please have everything you own removed by the first of
the month.
7. You want me to support
you? We're not even married!
