I'M WRITING LETTERS to those who haven't paid
me or who should give me a refund for work not delivered,
so I can repay those to whom I owe money. I'll give you
compelling reasons why paying me is in
your best interests,
too.
IF
YOU OWE ME MONEY, this would be a good
time to pay up, in full, with interest...
before
I approach
you. I will accept items on my wish list of equal value in lieu
of cash or check.
IF
I OWE YOU MONEY, you're already on my
list and I'll contact you. Would you consider forgiving the
debt, applying the debt to sponsorship of my book or web site,
or allowing me to provide consulting, writing or
speaking services in lieu of
payment?
I'm going after:
- Those who have not paid me for work done.
- Those who stole from me when I was vulnerable.
- Those who have not repaid me for their share of a large expense.
- Those who conned me out of money.
- Those who sabotaged my ability to earn income.
- Those who borrowed money from me and not repaid me.
- Those who hired me or purchased something from me and then refused to pay for it.
- Those people I've paid but who have not delivered what they promised.
- Those who did such bad work that I had to hire someone else to do it right.
- Those who took property of mine that legally belongs to me.
I intend to pay back debts I owe, afford the necessities of life, avoid homelessness, and have money to invest to support myself when I am no longer physically able to work.
My story
I learn from my own losses and successes. In past years I've had a number of encounters with business professionals whose unprofessional behavior cost me significant money and put me in circumstances that created a substantial financial loss for me. In some cases the amount was in the thousands of dollars, in some cases the amount was only $20. But added together a bunch of those $20 debts can mean the ability to buy food that week or pay a loan I owe. It can take months to get the money because the withholding parties count on my getting tired of fighting and giving up, but I don't. It took months of sending emails to the St. Catharines YMCA to get a $152. refund. And they tried multiple times to throw me off. It may take months to collect a valid refund, but I don't give up on significant amounts.
I have been able to do well retrieving money for my clients, perhaps because I have no fear of repercussion when advocating for someone else. When you've been threatened at gunpoint or had a hunting knife at your throat for standing up for yourself as I have, there can be lingering concern for my safety. But when I have a series of successes the fear disappears and I feel powerful.
My hero
An Ontario man, Rob Edmonds had his $250,000 lottery winnings stolen by a convenience store clerk. He sued the couple and then sued the Ontario Lottery Corporation for the amount of his winnings. A quiet, unassuming, elderly man, he wouldn't give up his fight for justice. His victory, achieved while battling cancer, inspired me to not give up when someone else has the money that is rightfully yours. (I'll post more heroes as this web site develops.) Note: I don't like lawsuits - they are mean and messy - so I prefer to show the other party why paying is in their best interests without bullying or threats.
