What's the ideal niche expertise for you?
What will you call yourself?
If this is where you are stuck, you're
not alone. Like many, you may have specialized knowledge
and wisdom gained from years of academic training,
corporate experience, or possibly from volunteer work or a
favorite pastime. But perhaps you don't see how to make all
of it work for you as expertise that you can share with
others as a means to earning an income.
I have had great success working with individuals who come
away with a new and often unique area of expertise that
works.
If you have difficulty defining your niche so people are
able to understand it right away, I have a series of
questions that will help you. We can discuss what you will
call yourself: coach or consultant, and what kind; the
description of your expertise on your web site name plate;
and even your domain name(s).
In the seminar, online class or private sessions I conduct with consultants and
specialists, this is where we start. We use additional
questions to spark ideas for unique niches. It's always
very eye-opening and exciting for all of us.
METHOD
• You'll get a lesson
from me and you'll also be on a private, small group,
Yahoogroups discussion list (short-term) where everyone in
the class can post comments, questions and requests for
brainstorming. I encourage introductions.
• You will receive all the questions I receive and all the
answers and examples I provide to each member of the class.
If there is enough interest I'll keep the list open past
the last class for helpful interaction.
• You don't need to be online at any specific time, you
just need to be signed up for the class in enough time to
get all the materials and communications.
• I also ask that the discussion list correspondence not be
made available to non-paying students. It's an honor
system: if two or more of you are using the materials you
must pay for two or more people.
