Many experts set up their web
sites - or hire web designers - to follow the model of either
a brochure or product sales. Neither is effective for specialists
like you. There are many specific ways to present yourself and
your expertise and position yourself as a credible, reputable
professional.
Here are some clues that
your web site isn't doing what it should for you as an expert:
- Visitors to your site don't
understand what you're about.
- You have very little information
on too few pages.
- You have many visitors to
your site, but nobody hires you.
- Many of the contacts you receive
are people wanting to sell you their web site design services.
- Your web site is too busy.
- People often email you with
questions that are already answered on your site.
- Visitors to your site don't
stay long.
- The people who contact you
want free advice but don't consider hiring you.
- Your site is confusing and
needs to be reorganized.
- Your site conveys an image
that is incongruent with your personality or your expertise.
- Your site contains too much
unrelated material, or not enough content to make visitors return.
- People can't find the information
they are looking for.
- You're not attracting the
market segment you want to visit your site.
Before you begin the process
or early in the process, let Andrea Reynolds critique your site
index, your page template and a few actual pages. She will then
share with you specific suggestions for simple changes that will
be far more productive and cost-saving for you with a rationale
for each. Competing this course early in the process will make
changes easier and less time-consuming.
If you are about to set up
your first web site or are ready to update the your, it's time
to take this course. While she doesn't create web sites, she
can give you the right information so that your web designer
will create a site which positions and promotes your expertise
effectively. Andrea will look at your web site as part of the

Class Structure
1. One email/web
lesson a day, 5 days a week, for 2 weeks (10 classes in all).
2. Go at your
own pace.
3. Work alone
or with a registered buddy.
3. Ask Andrea
questions at any time through our private discussion list.
4. Get support
and inspiration from your fellow niche experts who are refining
their web sites.
5. Complete
homework assignments which will lead you to your goal.
6. Classes
are limited to 12 participants in order to give each person the
attention he or she needs.
7. Participation
is recommended to get the most from classes.
Method: You'll get a lesson from me each day
and you'll also be on a private, small group, Yahoogroups discussion
list (short-term) where everyone in the class can post comments,
questions and requests for brainstorming. I encourage introductions
and self-promotion is fine... but let's not promote outside resource
people before Andrea has a chance to check them out first.
You will receive
all the questions I receive and all the answers and examples
I provide to each member of the class. If there is enough interest
I'll keep the list open past the last class for helpful interaction.
You don't need
to be online at any specific time, you just need to be signed
up for the class in enough time to get all the materials and
communications.
I also insist
that the discussion list correspondence not be made available
to non-paying students. It's an honor system: if two or more
of you are using the materials you must pay for two or more people.

niche expertise and your web site address. Class will run when there are at least 8 people
registered.
